HISTORIC CONTEXT DESIGN incorporates restoration techniques and preservation initiatives that maintain architectural integrity for a unique style persona. Historic preservation is an ongoing trend in small towns intending to build relevance by keeping historic buildings in use. I personally volunteer locally to keep these stories alive. As a designer, I curated unique pieces to promote our local preservation group while curating a local art gallery in a restored historic building. I am passionate about this aesthetic as an artisan painter, so I have done my share of aging walls, furniture, and other decorative items for this genre. Another option is artisan finishes on large canvases, if painting the walls is not allowed. I feel that historic context style would be very appropriate for unique downtown development applications. I continue to build a list of untapped resources, ideas, and concepts for these applications and seek artisans, local furniture designers, lighting designers, artists, and metalworkers who can work with me to create one-of-a-kind design elements for restoration. This is a very important style story for aligning the past with the present.
